Pupil Leadership Team
A huge part of being a Rights Respecting School ensures that pupils feel confident, and feel valued, to use their voice. At our school, our Pupil Leadership Team represent the voice of the child across the school.
Our team are members from each individual class who have been selected by their peers to represent them and share their ideas and opinions about school life. The team meet regularly to organise competitions and fundraisers, develop projects and make a positive impact on school life or on the local community.
A main task of the team is to select our Article of the Month which will be linked to themed days or events. The Article of the Month is highlighted through individual class activities or assemblies.
Our Pupil Leadership Team have had a successful half term back together. We have so much planned for Autumn term including a Christmas Jumper Sale. Start digging out your old Christmas jumpers for us!
Our team are passionate about sharing our journey with our community. Our pupil leadership team created a leaflet to share with parents and carers about what being a Rights Respecting school means to us. We held a coffee afternoon to share the leaflets with our families. This was an extremely successful afternoon raising awareness of our commitment to the award. Thank you all for your support!
Our Easter Raffle was, once again, a huge success. The pupil leadership team raised almost £500 which has been donated to the UNICEF appeal for Turkey and Syria.
Last year, our work with Bully Busters was a huge success! Our pupils decided to focus on kindness and respect. We worked in classes to discuss what this looks like in school and how we should all have respect for each other - both duty bearers and rights holders. The team held a special assembly for our dinner staff with the aim of developing respect for all. Watch this space for the theme of this year's project!
In June, we held our first pupil conference day at Prescot Primary school. We have been working together with the aim of spreading awareness of children's rights to other local schools. The day was a huge success with 7 local schools coming together! We learnt about the start of the UNCRC, following the work of Eglantyne Jebb and discussed the Global Goals, thinking about how we would want the world to look by 2030. Our pupils were so knowledgeable and empowered to make a change!
