Otter - Y3/4 2017 - 2018

Mr Maloney

Welcome to Otter Class

Star of the Week

Star of the Week is... Olivia

A Otter has many qualities. They are intelligent, mature and hardworking. Otters can work independently and in part of a team. We believe that our class has similar qualities. We are always hardworking, we all have different strengths and we can work as part of a team but also strive when working independently.

"Be strong enough to stand alone; be yourself enough to stand apart; but be wise enough to stand together when the time comes."

This page will be updated on a weekly basis, please check our blogs and photos which will appear at the bottom of this page.

P.E. Days Tuesdays (Gymnastics) and Thursdays. Please ensure your child has their P.E kit in school on these days with appropriate footwear.

Reading - Children are expected to read every night for a minimum of 10 minutes. It is expected that this is recorded in your child's reading record and returned to school every day.

Maths - Children  will be set a piece of Maths homework on a Friday and it must be returned the following Wednesday.

English - Children will have set tasks in guided readings books to be completed as part of English homework.

Handwriting- Every Friday children will be set a handwriting activity to be completed as homework.

Spelling - We have recently changed our approach to spellings. We will now set a spelling rule rather than a spelling word list. This will allow the children to learn the rule rather than learning and memorising the words. Each week children will focus on a different spelling rule which will be tested on a Friday. Within the first week of each half term, children will be given a list of their spelling rules for the whole half term.

Start Time Children can now come into class at 8.40am. Learning will start immediately with a morning activity based on our weekly spelling rule or a morning maths challenge. Therefore, please encourage your child to be in at 8.40am.
Finish Time School finishes at 3.10pm.
Snack Children are encourage to bring a healthy snack to school for break time. There is now a healthy shop were children can buy healthy snacks such as cola flavoured raisins etc at break time.
