It has been fantastic to see the children return to school this week with a fantastic attitude to their learning and school life in general.

This term we are working as a whole school to ensure all the children have a clear understanding of how to be healthy in both body and mind. The whole school will be following our 'Healthy Me'  topic from our Jigsaw PSHE scheme which will encourage lots of thought and discussion that I hope you are involved in at home.

We will also be continuing our work with UK Military School with our Y5 children and Knowsley School 4 Health will be working closely with the children completing many exciting and thought provoking activities.

The School Council have been trialling a healthy tuck shop in KS2 and it has been a great success. We have seen a reduction in unhealthy snacks being eaten and the children recognise that many snacks being brought to school are not the healthy choice. This is when we need your support by asking you to not send chocolate or sweets  with your children to school.

We will also be working to increase the number of sports clubs before, during and after school this half term to encourage even more children to participate in regular exercise. Please encourage your children to take up any opportunities they may have.

Teaching the children to stay safe will also continue to be a key focus for us as a school. Following the success of Safer Internet Day (a separate letter will be sent out) we have identified some key areas to work on with the children that we feel you at home can work on too to help your children stay safe online. Road safety sessions will also be continuing with some classes and First Aid club will see some of our Y6 children receive certificates; with more to follow I am sure!

We will also be focusing on a key value of tolerance and acceptance of difference this half term and every class in the school will be sharing an age appropriate book that challenges stereotypes. Every class will be completing a class newsletter every two weeks to share the learning that has been taking place and inform you of what is coming up!

I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday at our parent/ teacher meetings and hope that we continue to work together to prepare the children for their future lives.
