Collage Art Work (Pablo Picasso) - Wolf Class

Date: 19th May 2017 @ 3:46pm

This week, we have been studying a few famous artists and then used similar techniques to produce our own work. We looked at collage for our technique. Collage is an art production technique were the resulting piece is an assemblage of different forms or pieces to create a new whole. The term is derived from the French word 'coller', which means 'to glue'.

We studied various art work that used collage as a technique, this included Pablo Picasso, Kurt Schwitters and Juan Gris. We discussed what we recognised about this art work and then talked about what we like about the art work. The children discussed the colours, the different shapes, the texture, how it was presented etc.

To link this to our topic we created a collage of Greece using inspirational quotes from two famous Greek philosophers. Next week we will continue to look at collage work from famous artists. Can you please collect any magazines or newspapers that we can use next week in our art work.
